Our trip to one of the most off-beat places in North East India starts at Dibrugarh. Today, we will drive to a small town called Miao. To be able to reach on time and to enjoy some interesting places on the way, book a flight that lands early in the morning and, at the latest by 10-10:30 AM. On our way from Dibrugarh towards Miao, we cross the oil town of Digboi. Digboi Oil Field is the first oil field in Asia. If time allows, we will also visit the Oil India Museum at Digboi, which is a very interesting place to visit. We will reach Miao by evening and check in to our simple abode for the night. The not-so-heard-of yet extremely gorgeous Namdhapa National Park is in Miao. The plan for today is to visit this breathtakingly beautiful gem and explore the diverse flora and fauna of the park, known for its rich biodiversity. We will go for a jungle trek inside the park, enjoying birding, nature walks, and wildlife spotting. After our Namdhapa Jungle trek, we proceed to the Tibetian villages nearby and also visit their Arts and Crafts center there. The most interesting one being the Golden Pagoda, also known as the Kongmu-Kham, in the Tai Khamti language. The Buddha’s statue here is the world’s tallest Buddhist statue made out of bamboo and cane. After spending time at the golden pagoda at Namsai, we proceed to a nice resort by the river-side to relax and spend some time to slow down. You can also try a nice Tai-Khamti meal here. Day 4
WALONG Tour →WAKRO to WALONG :- 5 hrs(168 km)
It’s going to be a long day today. First, because the drive is long and secondly, because, it is one of the most picturesque drives of the region. This means you will be taking multiple stops just to gawk at the beauty around you and take tons of pictures. The one downside of this route however is the fact that this route has very few eateries on the way. So, for lunch, you will have to make do with whatever you get en route or you live on the biscuits and snacks that you are carrying with you. But one thing can be said with confidence, the views enroute more than make up for this small inconvenience. Overnight Stay at Hotel in WALONG .
-
Day 5
Exploring WALONG
Today we spend the entire day exploring the surroundings of Walong and learning about the unique culture and way of life of the local tribes of this part of Arunachal Pradesh. Walong also has a War Memorial which has great historical significance and is a must-visit place when in this part of Arunachal Pradesh. As a first stop, we will visit this historic place to learn about the role Walong played during the 1962 Indo-China war. From the Walong War memorial, we head to the Walong waterfall. And from there, we head to the Namti plains, where the Indian and the Chinese forces had a historic faceoff. The war memorial also has some old Live ammunition, the ones that failed to go off. From there, we proceed to the China viewpoint, a place from where China can be seen with the naked eye. And from there, we then head to the Kaho village, the easternmost village in India. Be back to our stay in Walong for the night. Overnight Stay at Hotel in WALONG.
-

Before you can start the 1 hour and 20 minutes trek to the Dong Valley, you will have to get up and leave by 2 am from your stay, to reach the trek’s starting point on time. Come back to your stay, freshen up, and then start your return journey to Wakro which will take around 6.6.5 hours. Overnight Stay at Hotel in WAKRO .
